Exposing the Valley of the Hidden Dinosaur

I've been very lax in catching up to everyone else as far as story quests and exploration goes, and now that they've released the new Fjord horses, I figured I'd log on and see how far I could get.  I had not yet done any of the quests to open the Valley, and quested until I couldn't anymore in a day.
The quest chain begins with Elizabeth in Valedale, who asks you to check the pass and see if any of the snow has melted.  She has asked you to do this before, but this time - TA DA! - the snow has melted and there is a pass open to the Valley of the Hidden Dinosaur.  I'm sure many of you have already completed these quests, as you have probably been much more active in the game than I.

Do take note, though, if you haven't done the quests yet, you will not be able to purchase a Fjord horse for awhile - several days, if not longer - due to the NPCs and reputation not being available until you complete certain quests.

The first 'new' NPC you encounter is a partially frozen Nic Stoneground - someone you may have helped previously, in my case so long ago you had practically forgotten.

The new Fjord-owning faction, the Kalters, is available only after you complete how ever many quests Nic has for you - which means several days worth of work.  I tried exploring beyond Nic's location but there wasn't much to see, because nothing will be 'populated' properly until I have reached a certain point in the questline.  It's very snowy [duh] and rather hard to see until you get to a point where there are road lamps lighting the way.

Because I haven't gotten far enough in my quests yet I cannot talk to or even see the vendors for the Fjords, but have been told the level 1 Fjords run about 780 star coins and the level 10 Fjord is about 1400.  That's actually not a bad price considering how much it costs to level up the "easy" way by paying the trainer to do it for you.  I will probably end up going with the gray Fjord, and I don't think it comes in a level 10 version.

Here are some screenshots of Fjord horses I saw while running about.

You'll notice the Fjords in the first photo have a triangular pattern in their hair while the gray one does not, but I have seen it both ways - either color can have either hair pattern, but I'm not sure if it's something you have to go to the horse hairdresser for or if it's a choice when making the purchase.

I still have to come up with a name for my Fjord, but I'm pretty sure you have to be Popular with the Kalters before you can buy one, so I'm probably a long way away from it and am not too worried about it.  I am a bit disappointed that I have to wait overnight for the quests, and I'm not sure if I feel like dishing out the coin to make that time disappear.  I'm also a tiny bit bummed I already used the name Snowangel on my North Swedish Horse, but I'm sure I'm capable of coming up with something good for a Fjord, too.

Happy Trails!

Stars Over the Field Daily Quest

This post is intended to help those who are stuck or lost on the 'Stars Over the Field' daily quest offered by Mario at the Observatory.  He tells you there are three stars that fell overnight, and then shows you through the telescope where they fell, but does not mark these locations on your map.  In order to review the locations, you must ride all the way back to the Observatory and check the telescope again. I've taken screenshots of the view through the telescope as well as the close-up view with my map included in the photo, in order to better show the location. Star Stone between boulders: Star Stone near ditch: It may be helpful at this time to mention that it is a little ways away from the bonfire for Midsummer Festival. Star Stone near the Baroness' race track: This one is really easy, so easy that I forgot to include a map picture.  It's right next to the gondola and construction area as soon as you come down from

Who let the donkeys out? (A Star Stable guide to save time!)

Heya StarFam, what’s up? I just finished finding all the mini-donkeys added on Wednesday’s update, thanks in large part to Minatozy’s video (here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuW1lZiOE-g ) Because she already made such a great guide, I’d like to offer a different approach. Her video showed the donkeys in the order they’re listed in the journal. I’m going to show you the best route to take to waste the least amount of time. Read first : All listed coordinates are in x, y format. You can view coordinates by opening your in-game map and moving your mouse pointer over different areas of the map. The coordinates are listed above the description in the tooltip above your mouse pointer, in white font. (Some areas will say the name of the area [like The Forgotten Fields] next to the coordinates. Some won’t.) It will also show your current coordinates in the bottom right side of your map. It doesn’t show them on the minimap. If you left-mouse click on an area of the map, it will creat
